2024 Cross-University Joint Project Presentation and Competition Concludes Successfully

The "Department of Information Technology and Management" at Shih Chien University and the "Bachelor Program in Software Engineering and Digital Creativity" at Fu Jen Catholic University jointly hosted the "2024 Cross-University Joint Project Presentation and Competition" on November 22, 2024. Held at the International Conference Hall of the Library and Information Building at Shih Chien University, the event concluded successfully. Centered on the theme "Bridging Ideas, Building Futures," the grand gathering attracted 37 participating teams—23 from Shih Chien University and 14 from Fu Jen Catholic University—showcasing the students' innovative capabilities and technical prowess in the field of information technology and management.

Event Overview and Schedule

The event featured preliminary rounds in the morning and finals in the afternoon. In the preliminaries, the 37 teams were divided into three groups (A, B, C) for evaluation. Each group was assessed by three judges, who selected the top four teams from each group to advance to the finals. During the finals, 12 teams presented their projects and participated in Q&A sessions. The top five teams were ultimately awarded, while the others received honorable mentions. Evaluation criteria encompassed project content and innovation, technical implementation and completeness, as well as presentation and communication skills. The final judging panel was comprised of nine esteemed experts from academia and industry, adding professionalism and credibility to the event.

This occasion not only showcased the students' exceptional abilities in technological application and innovative design but also reflected the long-term investment and efforts of both universities in interdisciplinary collaboration and educational outcomes. Through project presentations, interactive displays, and judges' inquiries, students delved deeply into applying technological innovation to real-world scenarios and exploring future directions in digital development. The competition also provided opportunities for students to interact and exchange ideas with industry experts, promoting a close integration of academia and practical application.

Highlights of Outstanding Projects

After a tense and fierce competition, the championship was clinched by four students from the Department of Information Technology and Management at Shih Chien University: Chiang Chia-Hsiu, Liu Shih-Jen, Lu Hsin-Yu, and Lin Yu-Chuan, with their project "RPG Game: Hyde's Notes." Guided by Professor Li Chien-Kuo, the team presented an RPG adventure game centered on dual protagonists. Players switch between the perspectives of the main characters to experience an emotionally rich journey of growth, reflecting on dreams, responsibilities, and social issues while enjoying the game. Designed using tools like RPG Maker MV, Clip Studio Paint, and Procreate, the game incorporates innovative storytelling puzzles and combat mechanisms. Notably, it cleverly integrates information security knowledge, combining entertainment with educational value, fully demonstrating the team's strengths in creative design and technical implementation.

The second place was awarded to Fu Jen Catholic University's team of Hsu Chia-Chen, Lee Yu-Chun, Kao Wei-Hsiang, and Lo Fan-Ya for their project "EverLearning English Pronunciation Learning APP," supervised by Professor Wang Fu-Tang. This project developed an English pronunciation learning app using a self-trained speech recognition model based on an improved Transformer architecture. The app converts speech into the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) for comparison and scoring, assisting users in improving the accuracy of their English pronunciation and making English speaking educational resources more accessible.

The third place went to five students from the Department of Information Technology and Management at Shih Chien University: Hsu Jun-Yung, Chen Cheng-Yu, Tseng Yu-Chen, Chen Po-Yu, and Wang Shao-Chun, with their project "Bypass Gateway Network Monitoring System Based on ARP Spoofing." Supervised by Professor Li Meng-Huang, the team focused on network security in educational settings by designing a network traffic monitoring system based on ARP spoofing technology. The system can centrally manage LAN traffic and achieves low-cost, high-efficiency network monitoring using SSTap and Xray-core technologies, ensuring fairness in the learning environment. The project was praised for its excellent technical innovation and demonstrated broad potential in educational applications.

The fourth place was secured by Fu Jen Catholic University's team of Fu Ching-Cheng, Yang Che-Heng, Sun Yu-Chen, and Chen Li-Han with their project "Math_Enlightener," supervised by Professor Huang Fu-Chu. Math Enlightener is an educational application that combines gesture recognition with math games, allowing children to learn mathematics through interaction, enhancing hand-eye coordination and learning motivation. Utilizing gesture recognition technology, the ChatGPT API, and growth curves, the app provides personalized learning support to help children gradually improve their math skills. It visualizes learning progress, enhancing educators' ability to monitor learning outcomes.

The fifth place was awarded to four students from the Department of Information Technology and Management at Shih Chien University: Lin Yi-An, Su Yu-Chun, Cheng Chien-Ting, and Wang Cheng-Pin, with their project "Smart Library Book Localization System." Supervised by Professor Hung Da-Wei, the team addressed the time-consuming issue of locating books in libraries by proposing a comprehensive solution that combines a website, floor plans, chatbots, and 3D modeling technology. Developed using ASP.NET Core MVC and Botpress AI technology, the system provides intuitive book search and localization functions. It not only enhances the reader's experience but also offers a concrete application example for library digitization, possessing high promotional value.
